As part of our doctrine, we underscore that CORPORATIONS
ARE NOT
PEOPLE and the Supreme Court
renders itself illegitimate by
their ruling that corporations have the same rights as humans.
EARTH MONTH
We exist to help facilitate local, national and international
environmental
activism and actions from March 22- April 22 2012. We exist to promote
another face to stand equal to the economic face of the Occupation
movement...the Environment. We
are asking all occupations to form
working groups and / or committees and direct actions from 3-20
(Equinox) - 4-22 (Earth Day) and beyond.

The state of our natural world is dire.
Scientists in the arctic have declared a planetary
emergency.
Scientists
are calling for artificially modifying the weather and climate by
stratospheric geoengineering, the process of spraying reflective
particles around the planet to reflect sunlight. Once this process is
started, scientists say it may not be able to be stopped as global
warming would accelerate at lightning speed.
The 2011 State
of the
Ocean report is also
devastating. It summarizes that we are looking at NEAR-TERM massive
extinctions unlike ever seen in geologic records.
The
extinction rate is unprecidented.
We ARE against WALLSTREET'S deadly wall of destruction and ignorance.
NOW is the TIME TO ACT- AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. Its not over
the top to say that for many people, animals, forests and ocean
regions, its NOW OR NEVER! Research Links

March Month of Action
(and beyond) to permanently close Vermont Yankee:
March 3: Greenfield (MA)
Community College affinity group is walking from GCC to the reactor,
then celebrating in Brattleboro.
March 11: Anniversary of
the ongoing Fukushima nuclear meltdowns in Japan, mock evacuation
March 17 & 18:
non-violence trainings and/or teach-ins around New England.
March 21: Vermont Yankee
retirement party at the Statehouse in Montpelier.
March 22 and thereafter:
Non-violent direct actions against Entergy (the New Orleans-based owner
of VY). Details to be determined by an AG Spokes Council.
March 23 and thereafter:
national call for solidarity in opposition to Vermont Yankee, Pilgrim
and Indian Point.
March 31: mass legal
rally in Brattleboro in alliance with legislators and environmental and
safe energy grops.
ACTION PROPOSAL FOR
THURSDAY, MARCH 22nd:
Title of action: “OCCUPY ENTERGY, 3.2.2”, or
“OCCUPY ENTERGY HQ, 3.2.2”
1. Brief RALLY at Brattleboro Commons.
2. WALK/MARCH from Commons to Entergy Headquarters on Old
Ferry Road (3.5 miles north of Commons)
3. NONVIOLENT “CIVIL RESISTANCE”: block
building entrances and/or vehicle entrance or parking lot (where a
second rally, with music, an open mic, etc., could take place), with
the message being something like, “If you (Entergy) won’t
shut Vermont Yankee down, we will shut YOU down.”
(Those choosing to participate in the blockade and thus risk
arrest -- as opposed to those who choose to provide support without
risking arrest -- may be arrested and transported away rather quickly,
or may be allowed to stay there indefinitely after police have made
sure there is at least access to the building and parking lot.)
One obvious advantage of this plan is that by focusing on the
Entergy Corporation, whose bullying, deceitful, profit-maximizing
behavior is the reason Vermont Yankee isn’t being retired on
schedule, it connects directly with the Occupy movement and one of its
primary focuses: corporate tyranny (in this case Entergy’s
tyranny and defiance of the will of the people and State of
Vermont).
Another advantage is that the rally at the Brattleboro Commons
and the walk from there to Entergy HQ would be very visible to lots of
people, as the road is the major thoroughfare between Brattleboro and
Putney, with lots of stores and businesses all along the way.
A March 22nd committee was set up to further develop the plans
and deal with the logistics, convened by Bob Bady.

destruction of the planet
Call to
Action: We are at a dangerous
tipping point in history.
The destruction of our planet and climate change are almost
at a
point of no return. Our mountains in Appalachia are blasted; our
drinking water in the northeast threatened by natural gas fracking and
our forests in the northwest targeted for further deforestation. Our
climate and earth risk never returning to a balanced state.
At this
crucial moment, a small group of
polluting businesses financed
by the 1% have hijacked our political system for their benefit.
They’ve rigged the system by paying off politicians, who in
turn
give these companies taxpayer handouts to continue to destroy our
planet and atmosphere.
While the a
majority of American people call out
for alternative energy
sources, our government only responds to the interests of these big
polluters. The very corporations that lobby our government in order to
pollute, publicly admit that climate change is an issue, but ignore it
in favor of continued record profits for Wall Street.
Many around the country have taken steps to make our lives and
communities more sustainable and resilient, but Congress has done
nothing. We must reclaim our democracy to protect our planet. We need
to take action for 100% of the occupants of the planet.
We are
calling on all Occupy groups and our ally
organizations around
the country and the world to join us for 2 days that will launch a
month long campaign where actionable steps to stop business as usual
and expose the corrupt alliance of the 1% and our democratically
elected leaders.
Friday
March 23rd - Occupy the Business of
Pollution: A day
of global direct action to disrupt and expose the dirty business as
usual and its political supporters. We will occupy corrupt polluters,
politicians and front groups like Duke Energy, ExxonMobil, BP, Shell,
the American Petroleum Institute, through a diversity of creative
actions on a local level.
Saturday
March 24th - 99 Percent for Earth
Global Rally : A
day of global mass rallies where families, community groups and
individuals from all backgrounds march in cities around the world to
demand a livable planet for all.
Ongoing
Campaign (March 24 to April
22nd): Launch campaign to have
individuals around globe to take measurable actions locally, nationally
and globally to raise awareness and withdraw support from the polluters
and their supporters. This will be in the vein of “Move your
Money Day” and similar campaigns while leaving space for
a
diversity of non-violent tactics.
